Recreation and Leisure

Jönköping has one of Sweden´s largest swimming baths and fitness centres — the Rosenlundsbadet centre, which has, in addition to the outdoor pools, two indoor facilities for swimming and other fitness activities. During the summer months, three tempered swimming pools are open. There are also many lakes suitable for bathing and swimming within easy reach of the city centre. Along the shore of Lake Vättern, in the heart of the city, stretch several kilometres of fine sandy beaches.

Jönköping gives every opportunity for a wide variety of outdoor activities. There are, for example, six golf courses, some 250 km of trails and footpaths, a wide network of cycling paths, some 20 different sports centres with running and skiing tracks, three major racket sports centres, six riding-schools, three halls for ten pin bowling, four sports halls with spectator seating, two indoor ice rinks, and one bandy ice rink, as well as three slalom slopes with ski lifts.

The large number of different sports clubs, societies and organisations in Jönköping ranks us among the top municipalities in Sweden in this respect.
Jönköping has very successful teams in ice hockey, bandy, football and handball, as well as being the home of individual world-class athletes in many sports, for example in single seat kayak.
