Kaptensbostället (Captain’s residence)

This building is a captain’s residence that was moved from Södra Jordstorp to the open-air museum at Grännaberget in 1922.
The house served as the residence of the captain of the Vista Company, Jönköping Regiment, and is based on Count Erik Dahlberg’s standard designs for residences for captains and cavalry captains.
This type of building is known as a parstuga and consists of three rooms, a kitchen and a hallway. Among others, Baron Gustaf Mörner af Tuna lived here. He was taken prisoner at the Battle of Poltava in 1709 and spent thirteen years in Tobolsk, Siberia, before returning to Sweden.
The interior of the house bears no resemblance to the original dwelling. The Captain’s House is now owned by the Grenna Museum Foundation.
