Crisis preparedness in Jönköping Municipality
Here you can find information about how to prepare for a crisis and what you need to know if a crisis occurs in our municipality. A crisis could, for example, involve extreme weather, IT disruptions, major accidents or war. This information complements the national brochure In case of crisis or war, published by the Swedish Civil Defence and Resilience Agency.
How to get information during a crisis
During a crisis, it is important to follow information from reliable sources and not to spread rumours.

- Jönköping Municipality's Facebook page External link.

National crisis information:
If internet or mobile networks are unavailable, crisis information may also be provided at emergency support points, on posters or through printed leaflets.
If you have additional support needs
If you have a disability, medical condition or other support needs, you may need to prepare particularly carefully. Make sure that you:
- have the medicines and assistive equipment you need at home
- make a plan with family members or neighbours
- know where you can get help during a crisis
If you receive support or services from the municipality, these will continue during a crisis, although they may need to be adapted to the circumstances.
How you can help others
- Talk to your neighbours and help where needed.
- If you have a working fireplace or wood-burning stove, consider offering warmth to others.
- Share accurate information and do not spread rumours.
- Only use the telephone when necessary, as networks can easily become overloaded.
- Follow the advice and instructions issued by the authorities.
When we help each other and take responsibility together, our municipality becomes safer and more resilient.
Your responsibilities and the municipality's responsibilities
You need to be able to manage on your own for at least one week. Prepare an emergency kit containing:
- water and water containers
- food and a camping stove
- torches and candles
- warm clothing and blankets
The municipality works to ensure that essential services continue to function during a crisis, including:
- drinking water and wastewater services
- rescue and emergency services
- schools and care services
- support for those who need it most
How an emergency support point works
In the event of a prolonged disruption, the municipality may open one or more emergency support points. At an emergency support point, you may be able to:
- get up-to-date information
- charge your mobile phone
- access warmth and drinking water
- raise the alarm and receive crisis support
The services available will depend on the situation. Information about which emergency support points are open will be provided through local radio, the municipality's website and Facebook page, and the municipality's Contact Centre.
