In Jönköping’s city park, you can see this granite monument by Gustav Adolf Karl Mauritz Hultström. The monument features two of Bauer’s fairytale characters: the troll and the princess. At the top of the monument is John Bauer’s head turned towards the waves of Lake Vättern.

Gustav Adolf Karl Mauritz Hultström, born 9 July 1884 on Kungsholmen in Stockholm, died 13 January 1973, was a Swedish sculptor, graphic artist, illustrator and medal engraver.

In addition to Jönköping’s city park, the artist is represented at Gripsholm Castle, the National Museum and Moderna Museet, among others.
