Nurmengaard was created by artist Linnea Rygaard in collaboration with Sydväst Landskap och Arkitektur. The sculpture creates a spatiality that intertwines with the landscape and invites you to visit. The title combines the artist’s name with the name of a fictional castle built by the evil wizard Gellert Grindelwald in the Harry Potter books.
The work links Jönköping’s history to the present; the design was inspired by the floor plans of the wall of the now demolished Jönköping Castle. The shadow created by the three-dimensional sculpture is reminiscent of a floor plan and recalls this historical connection.
Linnea Rygaard (b. 1990) is from Gothenburg and graduated with an MFA from the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm in 2016. She often works with painting, with perspective playing an important part in her works.
