About the artwork
In Posse’s park below the Rosenlund mansion is the artwork Rosenlust (Rose joy), which looks like a small luminous summer house that you cannot enter. The 18th-century park in which the work is located is poetic and romantic, with the mansion and its rosarium overlooking both the city of Jönköping and Lake Vättern. The pattern that ascends the walls of the gazebo alludes to the magnificent climbing roses in the rose garden and serves as a reminder of them even during seasons when no flowers are in bloom. The colour pink symbolises romance, intimacy, friendship, feminism and courage. Pink was often worn by men in the 18th century and was seen to communicate passion, blood and war. It was considered an exclusive colour – if you wore pink, you were likely very successful. The choice of colour and pattern is also a nod to the era in which the park was landscaped and the mansion built. The summer house is like a brilliant marzipan rose in the park landscape, looking out over the neighbourhood. In the distance, Rosenlust, when lit in the evening, can be seen from the footpath along the shore of Lake Vättern.
