Temporary Distances

Temporary Distances is a series of fixed wooden frames placed in the landscape around Lake Rocksjön. The frames act as a kind of reverse camera – the frame is still, but the subject transforms with the changing seasons. By framing the view, the artwork invites visitors to stop, look and reflect on the space.

The aesthetic has been specifically chosen to interplay with the façade of the neighbouring stadium. Instead of competing with the surroundings, the work enhances their overall impression and gives way to nature. As the artist himself describes it:
“Nature should provide colour and change; instead of competing for attention, it should take centre stage.”

About the artist

Robert Hais (b. 1978) is a contemporary artist educated at the University of the Arts in London (BA Fine Arts, Art and Space), Halmstad University (Art History) and KKV in Gothenburg (Public Art – Practice and Methodology). His work is characterised by site-specificity, spatiality and close interaction with surrounding architecture and nature.
